Do cell phones use ip addresses to connect to the internet?

Question: Do cell phones use ip addresses to connect to the internet?

(Posted by: raizvan0027 on 2010-03-06 19:34:10)

Anybody know if Tmobile cell phones use an ip address? and if its any different to ip addresses used by computers? Im asking becuase of suspicios activity on one of my sites.. my pages get a hit but no info from where it came from is available.. so i was wondering if cell phones are invisible over the net... for example T- Mobile.

While depending on the setup a cell phone may not be assigned its own specific IP address all traffic on the internet has to come from some IP address likely owned by the mobile carrier. An IP lookup should still reveal an ISP of the service carrier or partner.

Everything that connects to the Internet uses an IP address, and it's always one of two formats. There's the traditional IPv4 (version 4) and the newer IPv6 (version 6). Hope that helps.
